Overnight Postpartum Doula Care

A rested mama by morning.

A calm, reassuring presence in your home through the night, personalized to your routines, your preferences, and how your family likes to do things.

What a night looks like

  1. Evening

I arrive and we talk through the day: how feeding went, how everyone slept, anything that’s worrying you. Then the house goes quiet and you go to bed.

  2. Through the night

Feeds, changes, and soothing are mine. If you’re breastfeeding, I bring your baby to you and take over afterward, so you go straight back to sleep instead of staying up to settle.

  3. Morning

You wake to a written log of the night: every feed, every change, how sleep actually went. Then a clear handover before I go.

Daytime Postpartum Support

Support for you and your baby during the day.

Sometimes what a family needs isn’t the night. It’s another set of caring hands while the sun is up. Room to rest, recover, shower, eat, or simply take a breath while your baby is looked after.

Gentle Sleep Guidance

Gentle support for better sleep, at your baby’s pace.

When you and your baby are both ready, we build healthy sleep habits together and help your baby gradually become a more independent sleeper. We start from your baby’s own sleep, feeding, cues, and stage, never from a template. No cry-it-out, and no rigid schedule.

How it works

  1. We connect.

Your baby, your nights as they are now, what you’ve tried, and what you’d like to change.

  2. We make a plan.

Realistic, specific to your family, and built on how your baby actually sleeps.

  3. You put it in place.

You take the tools home and start making gradual changes with your baby.

  4. We adjust.

Sleep isn’t linear. The plan moves as your baby grows.

Travel Support

Your village can travel with you.

A wedding, a family vacation, a first trip to meet the grandparents, an extended stay. Travelling with a newborn, or with newborn twins, asks a lot of a family still finding its feet. I come along and stay dedicated to your baby through airports and flights, hotels and vacation homes, dinners and gatherings, so the trip can feel like a trip.

Every newborn is different, and twins each have their own rhythm. Before we go, I learn each baby’s feeding schedule, sleep patterns, and what settles them, so their care stays as consistent away from home as it is in it.

About

I’m Vânia.

What I do is simple to describe and hard to do well: I take the night, so you can take the morning.

For twelve years I’ve spent my nights with newborns. Premature twins on their first night home from the hospital. Babies born through surrogacy. Reflux that keeps an entire household awake.

  1. Netherlands2014
  2. England2015
  3. Austria2016
  4. New York2016
  5. Eastern PA & New JerseySince 2019

It began in 2014, on an exchange program in the Netherlands, caring for a family with four children, including twins who were five days old. Since then I’ve supported families across Europe and the United States, many of them families for whom discretion matters as much as skill.

Outside of work I stay active, spend time with my husband, and take long walks with our dog, Petey.

How this began

Why a Village

My care has never ended when the clock did. The mothers I worked with kept calling after I’d gone home, with a question, for reassurance, or just for someone who understood. I loved being that person.

And I kept noticing the same thing: mothers carrying everything, without a village around them. I don’t believe motherhood was ever meant to be done that way.

This practice is my way of being that village for more families. Some nights that means taking the night so you can sleep. Some mornings it means the bottles are washed and the laundry is folded. And some days it just means being the one who reminds you: you are doing better than you think.

Every family

All structures, cultures, and backgrounds are welcome here: LGBTQ+ families, single parents, families grown through surrogacy. I’m not here to tell you how to parent. I’m here to listen, respect your choices, and help you find your own rhythm with your baby, in English or Portuguese.

Questions

Is overnight care helpful if I’m breastfeeding?

Especially then. When your baby wakes, I bring them to you and you focus on nursing. I take everything around it: the change, the burping, the settling back to sleep. You feed, then you’re back in bed.

What are your hours?

Nights run 9 to 12 hours, most often 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM, and longer shifts can be arranged. Daytime visits are 5 hours or more. Both depend on your needs and my availability.

How much support do families usually book?

Every family is different. Some want a few nights a week, some want daytime hands while they recover, others need consistent support through the early weeks. We’ll find the schedule that fits in a consultation. My availability is limited, so it helps to reach out early.

Will you need a place to rest?

Yes. An overnight is a long shift, and a comfortable place to rest while your baby sleeps is what keeps my care attentive at 4 AM. Your baby remains my responsibility for the whole night.

Do you help around the house?

With anything that belongs to the baby, yes: bottles washed and sterilized, the feeding station reset, baby laundry folded. General housekeeping isn’t part of postpartum care; my energy stays on your baby and on you.

How do I get started?

Write to me. We’ll talk about your family, your baby, and what kind of support would help most, then availability and next steps. It should feel simple from the very first message.

You don’t have to do this without support. Let me be your Village.
